The Lake George Arts Project, in a collaboration with the Town and Village of Lake George, has opened a "Call for Muralists" for a brand-new public art initiative. Funded through the New York State Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) and NY Forward Program, this project aims to beautify the local landscape, introduce art into unexpected places, and celebrate regional creative talent.

Applications for the mural project are open now and will close on July 10, 2026. Interested artists can view full guidelines and access the online application form by visiting lakegeorgearts.org/call-for-muralists/.

This initiative is part of a larger, multi-phase public art project spanning 2026 and 2027. The upcoming summer phase focuses on the creation of four distinct outdoor murals. The second phase, featuring 18 uniquely designed and painted canoes and paddles, is scheduled to launch in the Spring of 2027.

Following the completion of the murals, a printed wayfinding map will be distributed throughout the Town and Village. Additionally, each mural will feature custom signage with a QR code, linking directly to the artist's name, title of the work, inspiration, and historical references on the Lake George Arts Project website.
